Special trains for Biswa Ijtema
Bangladesh Railway has made arrangement to operate special trains in different routes of the country to facilitate the movement of Muslim devotees of the Biswa Ijtema, reports UNB.
The three-day Ijtema, the second largest Muslim congregation after hajj, will begin on January 30 on the bank of the River Turag in Tongi.
According to a BR press release issued here yesterday, two special trains will run from Mymensingh to Tongi while two others from Akhaura to Tongi and Bhairabbazar to Tongi on January 30 and 31.
One special train will leave Mymensingh at 11.30 am while another at 8.10 pm for Tongi.
A special train will depart Akhaura at 1.20 pm for Tongi while another will leave Bhairab at 11.20 pm.
Besides, five special trains will run from Dhaka to Tongi at 8.45 am, 9.10 am, 10.05 am, 10.25 am and 10.50 am on February 1, the day of 'Akheri Munajat'.
Four special trains will run from Tongi to Dhaka at 12.30 pm, 1.30 pm, 2.10 pm and 3.50 pm on the day.
On the same day, two special trains will run from Tongi to Akhaura at 12.30 pm and 5.00 pm. And four other special trains will operate at 12.35 pm, 1.10 pm, 3.20 pm and 8.50 pm from Tongi to Mymensingh on the day.
The Railway authorities have also made arrangement to operate two special trains from Tongi to Mymensingh at 1.40 pm and 10.50 pm on February 2.
On the same day, two other trains will run from Tongi to Akhaura and Bhairabbazar at 9.35 am and 2.10 pm respectively.
Besides, all Dhaka-bound inter-city and mail trains will halt for two minutes at Tongi Station.
