A housewife was killed after rape at Bailabunia village in Kathalia upazila on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Mahamuda Aktar, 35, wife of Chunnu Howlader of the village. On information, police recovered the body from the area and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy, said Tofazzel Hossain, officer in-charge of Kahtalia Police Station. Police suspected that criminals strangled the woman after rape.
RMG worker found dead

An abducted garments worker was found dead in Sirajganj district yesterday. The dead was identified as Md Azim Uddin, 20, son of Aktar Hossain of Moulavipara village in Sadar upazila. On information, police recovered his body from Boyra Char in the upazila at noon, said Basudeb Sinha, officer in-charge of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station. Azim was abducted from Gazipur district on August 19 when he was coming to his residence. Azim might have been stabbed to death, said the OC.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two people along with a shutter gun and three bullets at Vaudanga village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday night. The arrestees are Md Akash Hossain, 19, son of Jalal Hossain and Md Robiul Sardar, 26, son of Abu Taleb Sardar of Fakitpur village in Sujanagar upazila. On secret information, a team of Rab-12 raided the area and arrested the duo along with the arms and bullets. A case was filed with Pabna police station in this connection, said Rab sources.
Missing man found dead

The body of a man, who went missing on Tuesday, was found in a pond at Arunapur village in Jogonathpur union under Sadar upazila yesterday morning. He was identified as Swapon Miah, 52, son of Saru Miah of the village. Second Officer Salauddin Ahmed of Comilla Model Police Station said Swapon had gone missing on Tuesday last. Local people saw his body floating on the pond in the morning and informed the police, who recovered the body and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Woman held with yaba tablets

A woman was arrested with 60 yaba tablets at Singair in Manikganj yesterday. On information, staff of the Narcotic Control Department raided the house of one Osman Goni at Rishipara village in Singair upazila at around 11:45am and recovered the yaba tablets from there, inspector of the department Yunus Hawladar said. They arrested Osman Goni's wife Sheuli Akhter, 28 as Osman fled the scene, sensing the presence of the team, the inspector added. Officer in-Charge (OC) Md Liaqat Ali of Singair Police Station said they produced Sheuli Akter in a court that sent her to jail.
