Siddikur ups the ante
Bangladesh's golfing prodigy Siddikur Rahman played some immaculate golf in the second round of the inaugural Chiangmai Golf Classic yesterday. The 28-year old golfer surged from 16th to joint 6th position with a five-under-par 67 at the Alpine Golf Resort of Chiangmai, Thailand on Friday.
The one-time Asian Tour winner carded five birdies (3rd, 7th, 14th, 17th, 18th holes) while remaining bogeyless to follow up a score of 69 in the first round. Siddikur's consistent performance took his aggregate to eight-under-par (136), tied with his good friend Mithun Perera of Sri Lanka and Jason Knutzon of the USA. The trio is four strokes behind the leader, Thai veteran Prayad Marksaeng, who shot a five-under-par 67 in the second round for an overall score of 12-under-par (132).
A total of 71 players made the cut (two-under-par) in the 750,000 dollar Asian Tour event.
