Shibir leader killed in Habiganj
A Islami Chhatra Shibir leader was stabbed to death by criminals in Munsefi Residential Area of the district town on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohibur Rahman Chowdhury, 32, vice-president of ward no 9 Shibir unit of Habiganj municipality and son of Abdul Khaleque Chowdhury of Mokka village in Baniachang upazila.
Witnesses said a gang stabbed Mohibur indiscriminately with sharp weapons in front of a Kindergarten School in the area around 10.00pm, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where he died after sometime.
In Joypurhat, local leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student body Islami Chhatra Shibir blocked Joypurhat-Naogaon road in Sadar upazila for three hours yesterday, protesting the seizure of a motorcycle of a Shibir man by police, reports our Dinajpur correspondent.
Jammat-Shibir activists brought out precession in Tentulia area of the upazila in the morning and blocked the road by felling trees.
Later, traffic movement on the road became normal after 3 hours at about 12.00 noon following police intervention.
Earlier on Monday night, police seized a motorcycle of Shibir man Uzzal Hossain from Nakuria village in Sadar upazila, failing to arrest him.
Police said they did not get any valid documents of the bike. "We will return it if we get its real owner", said OC Abdur Rashid of Joypurhat PS.
