Shafiul injured
"> It was a light fitness drill for Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (R) and Shafiul Islam. The pace duo was running merrily on the greens of the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur yesterday. But suddenly Shafiul twisted his right ankle and was ruled out for six weeks. It was indeed a freak injury that no one had anticipated a few moments ago. Photos: Firoz Ahmed
Bangladesh pacer Shafiul Islam suffered an injury to his right ankle during training yesterday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur and has been ruled out of the one-day series against New Zealand.
Pacer Al-Amin Hossain, who made his Test debut last week in the second match against New Zealand, has been called up as his replacement.
Tigers physio Vibhav Singh said, "Shafiul suffered a ligament tear while warming up before training [on Sunday] and could be out of action for four to six weeks."
