Seven arrested

Seven alleged killers of Shahidul Islam, director of Media Vision and presenter of a BTV programme, were arrested early yesterday.
The arrestees are Mohammad Raihan, Litu Anam, Aslam Uddin, Aman Ullah, Mahbuba Akhter Trisha, Abir Hossain Badhon and Tofazzal Hossain.
Rapid Action Battalion arrested four of them in Pabna and the others in the capital.
At a press conference, Rab officials said the arrestees admitted their involvement in the crime.
Kismat Hayat, commanding officer of Rab-1, said five were directly involved in the killing while others were on watch.
"During preliminary investigation, the arrestees said they killed Shahidul in a planned way due to personal resentment and professional conflict," he added.
On April 1, the body of Shahidul was found in a sitting posture on a chair in his office with his hands and legs tied.
