Seminar on Sound Design by Dhaka University Film Society
Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) organised a seminar on sound design in films, titled “I Want to Hear What You Hear” at the Old Senate Room of DU Vice Chancellor's office on August 22, 2013. Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor of the University and also the Moderator of DUFS, presided over the programme as chief guest. Noted Iranian sound designer/engineer Mohammad Reza Delpak presented the keynote paper at the seminar. The sound designer, along with his assistant Ensieh Maleki, gave a presentation for local film enthusiasts. Delpak talked on various aspects of sound designing in films and gave the audience a chance to experience his work featured in some masterpieces. DUFS general secretary, Nabeel Al Jahan, gave a speech at the seminar. Later a question-answer session took place. Delpak discussed different aspects of sound design -- recording, creating sound scripts for films, background scores, on-screen and off-screen sound etc. Mohammad Reza Delpak is a well-known sound designer, editor and re-recording mixer, known mainly for his work in “A Separation”, “Children of Heaven”, “The Color of Paradise” and “The Song of Sparrows.”
