Seminar on family planning begins today
A four-day seminar on "Family Planning Programme in the 21st century" begins here today under the auspices of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP), a global society of leading population scientists, researchers and programme planners, reports BSS.
It is being co-hosted by the Operations Research Project (ORP) of ICDDR, B, Centre for Health and Population Research and Partners in Population and Development (PPD), a press release said.
The IUSSP's Dhaka seminar marks the beginning of its scientific work in the next millennium.
Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, is scheduled to inaugurate the seminar at the Sasakawa auditorium of ICDDR, B while Dr M Amanullah, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare, and Alamgir Farrouk Chowdhury, Secretary for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will attend the seminar as special guests.
About 70 population scientists of international repute from all over the world will attend the seminar, besides several Bangladeshi policy makers, programme managers, donor representatives, researchers and a host of other national and international agencies.
