Seminar held at City University
City University organised a seminar titled "Educational Institutions in the 21 Century" at the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) auditorium in the city on Wednesday, says a press release.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr M Shamsul Haque welcomed the guests with Dr. Mizanur Rahman Shelley, Chief Advisor, City University, in the chair.
Dr Syedur Rahman, President, Board of Trustees, American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS), from the Pennsylvania State University, USA, Prof Dr Steven Poulos from the University of California at Berkley, USA, Prof Clinton Seeley from the University of Chicago, USA and Prof Charles H Kennedy from Wake Forest University, North Carolina, USA spoke in the seminar.
The speakers elaborated in detail the desired and expected role of educationists in the 21st century and the possible course of action from Bangladesh to face the challenges of the 21st century.
Alhaj Anwar Hossain, Chairman, Board of Governors, City University, members of the Board of Directors of Dhaka Chamber, the veteran educationists, representatives of banks, insurance, leasing companies, multinational organisations participated in the seminar. In the question-answer session, the overseas educationists answered to different questions of participants.
Anwar apprised the audience that City University will be a university with a difference in approach and action. In the backdrop, he has donated 40 bighas of land on the outskirts of Dhaka city for building a full-fledged residential university complex for City University. A plan has been drawn up involving Tk 40 crore for the purpose, he added.
