Sacked Biman pilot takes up case with BAPA
One of the three Biman pilots - two of them sacked and another sent into retirement recently -- has taken up the matter with Bangladesh Airline Pilots Association.
They are close relatives of two of the 15 persons convicted and sentenced to death in the Bangabandhu murder case.
Ajmal Hussain, one of the sacked pilots, yesterdays told this correspondent that he had asked BAPA president Captain Mafidul Islam to take up his case since he had done 'nothing wrong'.
When contacted, Captain Islam said, "Ajmal came to me. I told him BAPA is an association that looks after the welfare of Pilots. It cannot take up a case where security of the state is involved ".
The three pilots are: Captain Ishfaqur Rahman, his wife Captain Yasmin Rahman and Captain Ajmal Hussain. Ishfaq and Yasmin were grounded on August 16, 1996 while Ajmal was grounded on November 8, 1998.
Yasmin is the sister of Col (dismissed) Faruk Rahman and and Ajmal is the brother of Najmul Hussain Ansar. Faruk and Najmul were sentenced to death in the Bangabandhu murder case by the District and Sessions Judge's Court, Dhaka, on November 8, 1998.
