RU rally demands ban on Shibir
Speakers at a rally on Rajshahi University campus yesterday demanded immediate ban on politics of Islami Chhatra Shibir in all educational institutions of the country.
The demand came at the rally organised by Chhatra Sangram Parishad protesting the brutal attack on Tawhid Al Hossain Tuhin, general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League, RU unit.
Addressing the rally, speakers said it is high time hat the government ban politics of Jamaat-e-Islami backed Shibir from the country.
They also demanded arrest of the Shibir men who were accused of attacking Tuhin and Shawan Sarker, social affairs secretary of BCL, RU unit, by August 31.
They threatened of tougher movement if the accused are not arrested within the stipulated time.
AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, former mayor of Rajshahi, Badiuzzaman Shohag, president of BCL central committee and Bappaditya Basu, president of Bangladesh Chhatra Moitree, among others, addressed the rally.
Earlier on August 22, Tuhin was hacked and Shawan was shot allegedly by Shibir men.
