Road crashes kill six, injure 53
Six people were killed and 53 others injured in separate road accidents in the country on Wednesday and yesterday.
Our Kushtia correspondent reports, three people were killed and a passer-by was injured in a head-on collision of two trucks at Baromile in Bheramara upazila yesterday.
The dead are truck driver Sohel Hossain, 30, of Meherpur, and his helper Alam Hossain, 22, and the other truck driver Ratan Ali, 33, of Naogaon. Injured Jony was admitted to Kushtia Medical College Hospital.
One of the mangled trucks halted the vehicular movement on the highway for two hours from 7:30am.
Our Dinajpur correspondent adds, Solaiman Ali, 45, was killed after a motorbike hit him on Dinajpur-Phulbari highway at Phulbari upazila in Dinajpur yesterday.
The motorcyclist escaped leaving his vehicle behind from which police recovered 64 bottles of Phensedyl.
Our Bogra correspondent adds, 50 people were injured when the bus carrying them caught fire after colliding head-on with a truck at Tenga Magur in Shahjahanpur upazila on Wednesday.
Of the injured, 10 were admitted to local hospitals while the others took first-aid.
Our Pabna correspondent reports, a person was killed and two others were injured when a lorry rammed their motorbike at Solonga of Sirajganj on Wednesday.
The deceased is Shahdat Hossain, 22, president of BCL Bhuiyangati ward unit.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent adds, Habildar Abdul Aziz of Border Guard Bangladesh, 27, died after his motorbike veered out of control and hit a roadside tree near Sarifpur Border area in Kulaura upazila yesterday morning.
