Road crashes kill five, injure six
Five people were killed and six others injured in road accidents across the country yesterday.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent, a person was killed and four others were injured when a bus rammed the CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying them at Sherpur on Moulvibazar-Sylhet highway yesterday.
The deceased was Kabir Ahmed Chowdhury, 38, general secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir municipality unit.
Our Khulna correspondent adds, a youth was killed and two others were injured when a bus collided head-on with a motorbike carrying them at Elaipur intersection in Rupsha upazila yesterday.
The deceased was Goutom Chakraborty, 25, organising secretary of BCL Khanpur union unit of Bagerhat.
Our Dinajpur correspondent reports, Md Rostom Ali, 45, of Dinajpur Sadar upazila, died after a truck hit his bicycle from behind at Kawgaon village in Dinajpur Sadar upazila.
Protesting the accident, locals blocked the road for two hours.
Meanwhile in Joypurhat, an unidentified mentally challenged man was killed as a truck hit him at Trimohoni village on Khetlal-Joypurhat road yesterday, said police.
Our Bogra correspondent reports, a schoolboy, Nazmul Hossain, 12, son of Badsha Mia, died after a truck ran him over in Arkatia Bazar area of Dhunat upazila.
Following the accident, agitated locals set the paddy-laden truck on fire and blocked the road for an hour
Police arrested the truck driver Abu Said and helper Kadam Ali.
Filing of a case was under-process at the time of filing of this report.
