Road crashes kill 6
Six people were killed and 15 others injured in road accidents in Chittagong, Bogra, Moulvibazar and Thakurgaon yesterday.
Our staff correspondent from Chittagong reports, three people were killed and 12 others injured as a Dhaka-bound passenger bus from Fatikchhari upazila skidded off Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sitakunda upazila.
One of the deceased is Irshad Ullah, 65, of Munsiganj, while the identity of the rest could not be known immediately.
The accident occurred around 12:30pm when the bus driver lost his control over the steering in Sultana Mandir area, said Sohel Imtiaz, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda Highway police.
The injured were rushed to Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex and, later, shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Our Bogra correspondent reports, an unidentified man was killed and 3 others were injured as a Bogra-bound covered van hit a rickshaw van on Bogra-Dhaka highway in Noymail area of Shajahanpur upazila in Bogra in the morning.
The injured were sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent reports, a boy was killed as a pickup ran him over in Noagaon area of Sreemangal upazila in the morning.
The deceased was Uttam Kumar Paul, 17, son of Somorendra Paul of Vagolpur village.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent reports, a boy was killed as a truck ran him over while he was crossing Thakurgaon-Panchagarh highway at Thakurgaon old bus stand in Thakurgaon municipality area in the morning.
The victim was Murad Hossain, 12, son of Azizur Rahman of Gowalpara in the area.
