Road crashes kill 5, injure 7

Five people were killed and seven others injured in separate road accidents across the country on Monday and yesterday.
Staff Correspondent reports, a teenager was killed and two others were injured when a speedy passenger bus hit the rickshaw van carrying them on the capital's Khilgaon flyover early yesterday.
The deceased, Mohammad Raihan, 16, was an employee of a tailor shop at Kadamtola. The injured are Alauddin, 17, and Raj, 17. They were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Locals held the bus driver Mohammad Sohel, 24, and his helper Alauddidn, 26, and handed them over to police.
Our Mymensingh correspondent adds, a carpenter was killed when a Mymensingh-bound BRTC bus hit him while he was crossing the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj road at Gazipur in Gouripur upazila yesterday morning.
The victim is Md Raisuddin, 20, of Panati village in Gouripur.
Agitated locals blocked the road for an hour demanding immediate arrest of the driver.
A case was lodged in this regard.
Our Bogra correspondent adds, a person died after an oncoming Dhaka-bound bus “Al-Hamra” hit his bicycle on Bogra-Dhaka highway at Aria Bazar in Noymail area of Shajahanpur upazila of Bogra yesterday.
The deceased, Sergeant Jahid, 40, of Sadar upazila in Pirojpur, worked at Majhira Cantonment.
Following the accident, agitated locals blocked the highway for two hours demanding speed breakers which caused a long tailback on the road.
Shajahanpur police seized the bus from Dhunat intersection in Bogra.
Our Pabna Correspondent adds, a passenger of a three-wheeler was killed and three others were injured as the vehicle skidded off the Pabna-Santhia highway and fell into a roadside ditch in Boailmari area on Monday morning.
The deceased is Md Abdus Sattar, 45, of Shazadpur upazila.
Our Gaibandha correspondent reports, a passenger of a three-wheeler was killed and five others were injured when the vehicle overturned and fell into a ditch beside Gobindaganj- Mohimaganj road at Amaner vita on Monday night.
The deceased is Palash Shiekh, 18, of Gobindaganj upazila, Two of the injured, Abdur Razzak and Abdul Wahed, were admitted to Gobindaganj health complex.
