Road crashes kill 5
Five people were killed and 17 others injured in road accidents in Dhaka, Chittagong, Comilla, and Lalmonirhat yesterday.
Our staff correspondent reports, a motorcyclist died as he was hit by a minibus on Mazar road in the capital's Mirpur yesterday.
Motiar Rahman, 36, was a bus counter manager of Darshana Bilash Paribahan.
Our staff correspondent from Chittagong reports, Shadan, 55, was killed and two others were injured as a truck collided with an auto-rickshaw at Ranirhat Bazar in Rangunia yesterday.
Meanwhile, Arif, 25, died as he jumped off his motorbike to avoid accident after a speeding bus overtook him in Anwara yesterday.
A correspondent from Comilla reports, two people were killed and 10 others injured as a bus hit a truck on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Gangra of Chouddagram yesterday evening.
The deceased were the truck driver Sheikh Farid, 35, of Feni; and his helper Sakib khan, 30, of Debidwar, Comilla.
Our Lalmonirhat correspondent adds, four cops and PA to State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Motahar Hossain were injured as the protocol police van to the state minister fell into a ditch beside Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway at Votmari in Kaliganj yesterday.
