Road crashes kill 5
Five people were killed and another was injured in separate road accidents in Mymensingh and Thakurgaon yesterday.
Our Mymensingh correspondent reports, four persons were killed and another was injured as a bus hit a private car on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Seed Store area of Bhaluka upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased were Jasim Uddin, 40, the car driver; Bachchu Miah, 45, of Mahmudpur village in Bhaluka; Belal Uddin, 35, of Bheramara in Kushtia; and Nazrul Islam, 36, of Kaliakanda in Jamalpur.
Police said the accident took place when the Mymensingh-bound car was rammed by the oncoming passenger bus around 9:30am.
Injured Shahabuddin, 30, was rushed to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex and, later, referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent reports, a teenage indigenous boy died as a microbus hit him from behind while he was returning home riding a bicycle on Pirganj-Bochaganj road at Bashgara village in Pirganj upazila early yesterday.
The victim was Niluz Hemrom, 18, son of Lala Hemrom of Paria village in the upazila.
He succumbed to his injuries at Pirganj Upazila Health Complex on arrival.
