Registration of women begins today
The government is going to launch online registration of female workers for foreign jobs in three divisions today.
The registration will start in Rajshahi, Rangpur and Sylhet divisions and continue till Thursday from 9:00am and 5:00pm every day.
Women aged between 25 and 45 years can register their names through local union parishad and ward level information centres.
They will be registered for Singapore, Hong Kong and Middle-Eastern countries jobs.
Minimum educational qualification for female workers' jobs in Singapore and Hong Kong is Secondary School Certificate, while the requirement for Middle-Eastern countries jobs for them is Junior School Certificate.
Females from Khulna and Chittagong divisions will register their names on April 12-16, while those from Dhaka and Barisal divisions will get registered on April 17-21.
Begum Shamsun Nahar, director general of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training, said they had already taken all necessary measures to begin online registration of female workers.
"As the demand for female workers in the Middle-Eastern countries and some other countries is increasing, we have taken a decision to prepare a database for the qualified female workers," she told The Daily Star yesterday.
On completion of the registration, those selected will be sent for training taking into account the demand for jobs skills and also the culture of the countries concerned.
Initially, the females will be registered for jobs like domestic workers, caregivers and garment workers.
Aiming to send trained workers to foreign countries, the government took the decision last month on successful completion of registration of male workers for Malaysian jobs in January this year.
