Barisal rebel AL candidate alleges agents' ouster
Mahmudul Haque Khan Mamun, AL rebel mayoral candidate, says he would file written complaint for ousting his agents from the polling centres.
Rebel Awami League mayoral candidate Mahmudul Haque Khan Mamun has alleged that supporters of AL-led 14-party-backed Shawkat Hossain Hiron had driven out his polling agents from several polling stations in the city.
"I'm fearful whether the mayoral voting will be held in free and fair manner," Mamun told newsmen after casting his ballot at Mathuranath High School centre at 10:00am.
He also said that he would submit a written complaint in this regard to the returning officer.
Mamun also alleged that both the AL and BNP-backed candidates have records of plundered hundreds of crore taka.
"This is why, the people of Barisal want to see a change now," Mamun said.
Three candidates -- BNP-backed Ahsan Habib Kamal, 14-party backed-Hiron and Mamun -- are vying for the mayoral post.
