Rapist gets life

A court here yesterday convicted a man for violating a minor girl in Palash upazila back in 2010 and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
The court also fined the convict, Jewel Mia of Sultanpur village, Tk 1 lakh, in default, to suffer one year more in jail.
According to the prosecution, Jewel picked up and violated the girl, then 10, on the night of February 27, 2010 while she was returning home from a feast organised at a local school ground on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
