Rab raids house of Toki murder accused

A Rapid Action Battalion team yesterday raided the residence of a Toki murder case accused, Saleh Rahman alias Simanto, also son of a local Jatiya Party leader, in Narayanganj's Chasara and interrogated his family members.
Afterwards, the team, accompanied by fire department divers, went to Kumudini canal beside the Shitalakkhya river in Narayanganj city, where Toki's body was found, and recovered a piece of cloth and a shirt.
Simanto, son of Bazlur Rahman alias Hazi Ripon, is now under arrest.
The raid and recovery were based on a confessional statement made by another accused, Yusuf Hossain Liton, before a magistrate's court on July 29. Yusuf stated that he, Simanto and others had strangled Toki inside the residence and then dumped the body in the canal.
On March 8, police recovered the body of Tanvir Mohammad Toki, 17, son of Rafiur Rabbi, from the riverbank two days after he had gone missing.
