Public speaking competition ends

An inter-school and college competition on public speaking came to an end on Wednesday at Savar Cantonment Public School and College.
The competition titled “Bangabandhu and Bangladesh” was organised to provide students with a platform to demonstrate their public speaking skills as well as to inform them about the actual history of Bangladesh's independence.
Through this competition, the organisers also hoped to educate the students on the contributions of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in nation building after the country gained independence in 1971, said a press release.
Students from Savar Cantonment Public School and College, Zirabo Cantonment Public School, Morning Glory School, Savar Cantonment Board Boys High School and Savar Cantonment Board Girls High School took part in the competition.
Sumaiya Rahman, a class X student of the host school, was declared the winner of the public speaking competition.
While eminent educationist Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman addressed the event as the chief guest, Asaduzzaman Noor, MP, was present as the special guest.
Member of Parliament Talukdar Mohammad Tawhid Jung Murad, Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University Prof M Anwar Hossain and Member Secretary of Bangabandhu Trust Sheikh Hafizur Rahman also attended the closing ceremony.
