Proceedings of graft case against engr Mosharraf stayed
The High Court on Wednesday issued rule asking the government to sow cause in four weeks why the proceedings of the graft case against former works minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain now pending with the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Chittagong, should not be quashed.
The court stayed further proceedings of the case till disposal of the rule.
A division bench comprising Justice Mohammad Abdur Rashid and Justice Siddiqur Rahman Miah passed the order.
The Bureau of Anti-Corruption filed a criminal case against Engineer Mosharraf and some others with Chittagong Khulshi police station on September 25, 2002 for their alleged corruption in allotting 1.86 bigha of land at Halishar Housing Estate in favour of a school named 'View Point School.'
Barrister AKM Nazrul Islam moved the petition on behalf of Mosharraf and others while Deputy Attorney General Syed Abu Kawser Dabirushan stood for the state.
