Peruvian held with 'drugs' in capital

A team of the Department of Narcotics Control yesterday seized a consignment of about 3.5kg of material, preliminarily detected as heroin or cocaine, and arrested a Peruvian in Hotel La Vinci in the capital.
Juan Pablo Rafael, 28, was caught with three packs of expensive drugs when the DNC team raided his room around 8:00pm.
“On secret information, we knew that a foreigner was coming to Bangladesh with a large amount of drugs. We knew which flight he took, but he had left the terminal before we reached there,” said Shamsul Amin, additional director (intelligence), DNC.
Six DNC teams had looked for him at different hotels before they found him, he added.
