People's will will prevail
Nobel laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus yesterday said the borrowers and members of Grameen Bank could only decide the fate of the bank, not the government.
"It cannot be snatched away. It is the organisation of the people. In the end, what people want happens. It does not matter what the government wants," he told reporters.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the fourth Social Business Day at Radisson Hotel in the city.
Prof Yunus said the Grameen Bank Enquiry Commission's planned recommendations to give at least 51 percent shares of the bank to the government would destroy the bank.
