Pallimela concludes
The fortnight long 'Pallimela', commemorating the birth anni-versary of Palli Kabi Jasimuddin, concluded at Gobindapur, the birthplace of the poet, here yesterday.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Moudud Ahmed attended the concluding function as the chief guest while Disaster Management and Relief Minister Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf was the special guest.
Faridpur Jasim Foundation organised the 'Pallimela'. A cultural function was organised on the concluding day.
Addressing the function, Moudud said writings of Poet Jasimuddin truly present the sense of direction and elements of Bangladeshi nationalism.
Describing Jasimuddin as a modern poet, he said majority people of this country have their roots in villages. Writings of Poet Jasimuddin depict the life style of rural Bangladesh. Thus, the writings definitely uphold the spirit of Bangladeshi nationalism," he added.
Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf said a museum would be set up soon at the ancestral house of Poet Jasimuddin with the patronisation of the government to preserve his works.
The ministers donated Tk one lakh each for the proposed museum.
Director General of Bangla Academy Prof Monsur Musa, poet's daughter Hasna Jasimuddin Moudud and son Dr Jamal Anwar, among others, addressed the function which was chaired by District Commissioner and president of the Jasim Foundation Jalal Ahmed.
