Pabna AL man killed by party rivals
An Awami League activist, who was critically injured by his rivals in Pabna district town yesterday afternoon, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital later in the day.
The victim was Emon Hossain, 24, son of Titu Hossain of Banglabazar village in the town.
Quoting locals, police said the rival group men had attacked Emon around 1:00pm in Doi Bazar area while he was returning home after attending a procession organised on the occasion of the National Mourning Day by Pabna district unit AL.
They stabbed Emon indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured. Emon was taken to Pabna Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors referred him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, and he died there in the evening.
Kazi Haniful Islam, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station, said: “Both the victim and the attackers belong to AL.”
Saidul Haque Chunnu, vice-president of the district unit AL, said Emon might have been killed following a previous enmity with his rivals.
He demanded punishment to the killers of Emon.
