No one held yet in city robberies
Police are yet to arrest the miscreants involved in the robberies in Siddheswari area on Tuesday.A gang of robbers looted cash and valuables reportedly worth about Tk 8.54 lakh from three flats of an apartment complex, Eastern Flower, in the early hours of Tuesday.
The dacoits had allegedly overpowered the security guards of the building. According to locals, maximum of what the robbers looted came from the residence of Jahurul Islam, a tax and VAT commissioner of customs. But police said it was not their job to decide whether the money was legally earned or not. Police sources said they were trying hard to nab the criminals and recover the looted money. Meanwhile, Motijheel police are yet to make any headway in the theft case where about Tk 45 lakh in cash and 12 tola gold ornaments were stolen. Unidentified burglars broke into the office of SA Paribahan at Kakrail in the early hours of Tuesday to loot the money and ornaments. Police picked up guard Moklesur Rahman and two employees, Jahangir Hossain and Abdul Jalil, for questioning. However, till yesterday, they were not shown arrested. |
