No headway in Engr Shafiq murder case
There is no headway in the Engineer Shafiq-ul-Mowla Tipu murder. Police arrested a peon of 'Multimode Exploration Limited', a business firm of the slain engineer Tuesday. He was arrested under section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Cr PC).
But police could not squeeze any information from him. Alam only told police that he accompanied Shafiq for sometime on the day of his murder, sources said.
Police produced Alam before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, Dhaka, and submitted a remand prayer yesterday, but the court did not grant the remand.
Meanwhile, the autopsy report said Shafiq was murdered. 'He died of internal haemorrhage due to multiple injuries,' the report added.
The body of Shafiq was found near the Shaheed Minar of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) at about 9:00pm on December 28.
His family members identified the body at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue on the following day.
