Nine shanties gutted in fire

Nine shanties were gutted by a fire in Bastuhara slum on Ice Factory road in Chittagong city yesterday afternoon.
Two units from Nondon Kanon and Agrabad Fire Stations doused the fire which originated from an electric short circuit at one of the shanties and soon spread to the others, said Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defence Station sources.
The damage was estimated at around Tk 10 lakh, said the source.
