Missing boy stabbed to death

A teenage boy was found dead at an under-construction market building at Kaliganj in Dakkhin Keraniganj on the outskirts of the capital yesterday evening.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Akash, 17. He resided in Kaliganj and worked at his uncle's shop in the capital's Bijoynagar. Acting on a tip-off, police recovered the body with several stab injuries from the nine-storey building.
Akash was stabbed to death, said the police.
Officer-in-Charge Sakhawat Hossain of Dakkhin Keraniganj Police Station said Akash had been missing since Monday evening after he left his workplace for home.
Youth arrested over killing CU student

Police yesterday arrested an accused in Chittagong University student Tauhidul Islam murder case in the city.
Md Elias, 21, was held at his Firoz Shah Colony residence.
In primary interrogation, Elias confessed to stabbing Tauhidul, 25, following a scuffle with him after failing to snatch valuables from him, said Khulshi police Sub-inspector Shah Alam.
On August 15 last year, miscreants stabbed Tauhidul to death outside his uncle's residence in the colony.
The victim's father Mominul Islam lodged a murder case with the police on the day.
Worker dies from electrocution in Ctg

A worker died from electrocution in Panchlaish area of Chittagong city Monday night.
The deceased was Mazid Rahman, 22, of Cox's Bazar.
Quoting the deceased's brother, police said Mazid came in contact with a live electric wire while digging for a deep tube-well around 10:00pm.
He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 10:45pm.
Woman dies as train runs her over

An unidentified woman died as a train ran her over at Fauzdarhat in Chittagong yesterday.
On information from the local people, police recovered the body from beside the rail line near Fauzdarhat Railway Station at around 11:00am, said Sukumar Chandra Barman, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Government Railway Police (GRP), Chittagong station.
The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
4 held with firearms, drugs

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-7) yesterday detained two men with 220 grams of heroin, 560 bottles of Phensedyl, a foreign pistol and two cartridges in Chittagong city's CRB area yesterday.
They are Monir Hossain and Md Shahjahan.
Another Rab team detained Md Younus with 1,650 Yaba pills at Teknaf municipality in Cox's Bazar on Monday.
Meanwhile in Feni town, Rab personnel held Monwar Hossain with a light gun and a bullet.
Separate cases were filed with different police stations.
Raw materials of two factories gutted in Ctg

Raw materials of two tin-shed factories worth around Tk 4 lakh were gutted in Chittagong city yesterday afternoon.
The fire originated from an electric short circuit at one of the factories in Charpara area, said sources at Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.
Five units from Bandar and EPZ Fire Stations extinguished the fire at Elion Packaging and Sumaiya Plastic Factories after an hour's effort.
