Youth's body recovered in capital

Police recovered the body of a youth from a pond in East Badda of the capital yesterday.
Md Jewel, 21, worked as a typist in a shop.
Badda police suspect that Jewel committed suicide as he left his house the night before following an altercation with his siblings, declaring that he will not come back.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for an autopsy.
RMG workers demonstrate for arrears at Ashulia

The workers of a garment factory at Ganakbari in Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital, demonstrated for the second consecutive day yesterday demanding arrears.
Ashulia Industrial Police Senior Assistant Director Md Shahid Ullah said the workers of Intraco Sweaters Ltd brought out a procession on Dhaka-Tangail highway.
He said the factory authorities were yet to pay the workers' salary of September.
The factory Managing Director Muzibur Rahman said he assured the workers of paying their arrears by Monday.
DFID moves to British High Commission building on Nov 10

The UK's Department for International Development will move its Bangladesh office to the new Shapla Building on the British High Commission premises in the capital's Baridhara on November 10.
DFID Bangladesh Country Representative Sarah Cooke said the cost-effective, environmentally friendly office in Baridhara will allow them to work more closely with their colleagues in the British High Commission as well as other international donors whilst delivering savings of over £500,000, that's over Tk 6 crore , each year in rent alone.
Dhrupad Communication wins foreign prize

Dhrupad Communication (Media for Education and Development) proposal "Let there be Light" won the National Federation of Unesco Associations in Japan Prize under TV Proposal Division category on October 24.
The prize was given at the 40th Japan Prize International Contest for Educational Media held at NHK Broadcasting Center in Tokyo, said a foreign ministry press release.
KM Taj-Biul Hasan, media consultant of Dhrupad Communication, a Bangladeshi organisation, also won awards in 2007 and 2010 in the same category.

Police recovered the body of an unidentified youth from Kathpatti Khelaghat area in Narayanganj town yesterday morning.
Manjur Qader, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station, said criminals killed him and dumped the body, tied with ropes, in the area sometime on Wednesday night.
The body, bore several marks of injury, was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
A case was filed in this connection.
