Reduction of Mayor Hanif Flyover toll for buses demanded

Narayanganj Nagarik Committee yesterday demanded the government reduce the toll for buses on Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover (known as Jatrabari-Gulistan flyover) in the capital.
In a statement, the committee leaders said Tk 260 has been fixed for each trip of buses with 45 seats which is discouraging the vehicles' drivers from taking the flyover. So the drivers are taking the route underneath, resulting in the same traffic chaos.
JU admission test registration begins today

Registration for admission test for honours programmes of Jahangirnagar University (JU) for the 2013-2014 academic session will begin today at 2:00pm and continue till October 28.
Admission seekers will have to register through sending an SMS through mobile operator Teletalk to 16222 as per directions given on JU website -- www.juniv.edu.
This year admission tests will be held department-wise and students will have to pay Tk 150 for admission form for each department.
Youth dies from electrocution

A youth died after being electrocuted in a cattle market in Chittagong city yesterday.
Tanbir Shahrier, 22, son of Syed Abdul Gofur of Feni, was a fourth year student of banking and insurance department of Dhaka University.
The incident occurred when Tanbir came in contact with a hanging cable, above his head, to light up the market, said his cousin Md Rashed who accompanied him. An unnatural death case was filed.
Worker killed falling down lift shaft

A construction worker died after falling down a lift shaft of an under-construction building at Kazir Dewry in Chittagong city yesterday morning.
The deceased was Harun Sheikh, 30, of Bagerhat district. The incident occurred when he was working on the seventh floor of the building of SKY Development, said his co-worker Md Jamal.
