3 warehouses gutted in Gazipur
A Correspondent, Gazipur
Three warehouses of jhut (garment leftovers) were gutted by a fire at Konabari Parijat in Sadar upazila of Gazipur yesterday.
Gazipur fire service officials said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a warehouse, owned by one Raju Ahmed, around 3:00am and spread to the others.
Fire fighters managed to douse the fire after four hours.
Woman found dead in Ctg canal

An unidentified woman, aged around 30, was found dead in a canal of Chittagong city yesterday afternoon.
Bakalia police recovered the floating body from Rajakhali canal in Chairmanghata.
The body bore several injury marks in the back and head caused by sharp weapons, said police. They suspect that the woman was dumped in the Karnaphuli river after being murdered.
A murder case was filed in this connection.
Four held with drugs in Gazipur

Law enforcers arrested four people with Phensedyl and marijuana from different places of Gazipur on Sunday and early yesterday.
Abdus Samad and Based were arrested with half a kilogramme of marijuana from a house at Dalan Bazar in Kaliganj upazila early yesterday.
Meanwhile in Hortokirtola, Kajol Mia was held with a hemp plant weighing 1.2kg.
Earlier on Sunday, Rapid Action Battalion arrested Kamal Hossain with 140 bottles of Phensedyl in Maddhya Chandina.
20 RMG workers injured in stampede after false fire alarm
A Correspondent, Gazipur
At least 20 garment workers were injured during a stampede on the way down from the third floor of a building in Kalaikair upazila of Gazipur after a false fire alarm on Sunday evening.
Police yesterday arrested two workers Ismail Hossain and Anwarul Islam from the factory, Dressman Textile Ltd, in Chandra area for allegedly raising the false alarm.
The injured are undergoing treatment at different clinics.
Three shops damaged by fire in Ctg

A tailoring and two grocery shops were burnt in Mayor Goli area of Chittagong city's Sholoshahar yesterday.
The fire originated around 3:50am from an electric short circuit at one of the three shops -- Sumi Tailors, Hasina Traders, and Gawsia Traders -- housed in a tin-shed house, said fire service officials. They estimated the damage at Tk 5 lakh.
Fire fighters doused the fire around 5:00am.
BGB arrests two with heroin worth Tk 70 lakh in Ctg

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) held two persons with 660gm of heroin worth Tk 70 lakh at AK Khan Intersection in Chittagong city.
On information, a BGB team searched a bus of Hanif Paribahan and recovered the drug from Md Aminul Islam and Saddam Hossain, both of Comilla.
The duo were handed over to the Department of Narcotics Control, Chittagong. A case was filed with Akbar Shah Police Station.
