NU 4th year Honours exams results of 22 subjects published

The results of 22 subjects of fourth year Honours examinations for Bachelor's degree for 2010 under National University were published yesterday.
NU examination Controller Mohammad Badruzzaman said the results were released at about 10:00am.
The results are also available at the university website – www.nubd.info or www.nuadmission.info
The results of the six remaining subjects would be published within this week, Badruzzaman added.
Man found dead in pond

A man was found dead in a pond in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong yesterday.
The deceased was Abu Taher, 42, of Sonaichhari in the upazila.
On information from locals, police recovered the body around 12:30pm, said Sitakunda police Inspector (investigation) Aminul Islam.
Taher might have been electrocuted by the water motor near the pond adjacent to his residence and, later, he fell into the water, he said.
Two die as train runs them over

Two youths were killed after a train ran them over on Matikata rail crossing in Kaliakoir of Gazipur yesterday morning.
The victims were Rubel, 20, son of Abdul Mannan of Kowchakuri village in Kaliakoir; and Shohag Hossen, 22, son of Shahzahan of Sirajganj.
Joydebpur Government Railway Police Assistant Sub-inspector Dadon Miah said the two died as the Rajshahi-bound train, Dhumketu Express, crushed them.
16 get GPA-5 in SSC exams on answer sheet reevaluation in Ctg

After re-scrutinising answer sheets, this year's results of 87 SSC students of Chittagong Education Board have changed. Of them, 16 achieved GPA-5.
The results were published yesterday.
Through SMS, a total of 5,724 SSC students applied for revising their 12,098 answer sheets after publishing the SSC results, said Pijush Dutta, controller of the education board.
Last year, after reexamining 108 students' results were changed and 33 of them got GPA-5.
5 BNP men held in Ctg arson case

Police yesterday arrested five BNP activists in Sitakunda of Chittagong in a case filed over arson and vandalism on Dhaka-Chittagong highway after party leader Aslam Chowdhury was sent to jail in another arson case.
Shamim, 22, Sohel, 21, Masud, 22, Alauddin, 20, and Bacha Mia, 20, are the party activists of Sitakunda upazila unit. They were arrested after an overnight drive in different areas of Sitakunda, said Sitakunda police Inspector (investigation) Aminul Islam.
Mob beats snatcher in Gazipur

A mob caught an alleged snatcher red-handed, beat him up and handed him over to police in Latifpur area of Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur yesterday.
The snatcher is Habibur Rahman, 30, of Tengrabari in Kaliakoir.
After snatching a handbag from a female passenger of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw before a filling station on Dhaka-Tangail highway, the youth tried to flee, said Saiful Islam, sub-inspector of Kaliakoir police.
Russian language day celebrated

The Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in Dhaka organised a literary and cultural programme yesterday to mark the Russian Language Day and 214th birth anniversary of Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
RCSC Head Alexander P. Demin, Bangla daily Prothom Alo Assistant Editor Zahid Reza Noor and Soviet/Russian Alumni Association President Engr Habib Ahsan Bablu also spoke at the event at RCSC auditorium.
