New CEO joins Dhaka bourse

Swapan Kumar Bala, a Dhaka University teacher, yesterday joined the premier bourse as its new chief executive officer.
Prior to taking the new assignment, Bala was a director of ICB Securities Trading Company and a member of an expert panel of the Dhaka Stock Exchange.
He was also a member of a professional panel of Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market and an expert committee on direct tax law of the National Board of Revenue, the DSE said in a statement.
The Dhaka bourse at a board meeting on March 24 selected Bala as its new chief executive, and the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission gave a "no objection certificate" on April 9 for the appointment.
The top post had remained vacant since January 9 this year after the previous CEO Musharraf M Hussain resigned on personal grounds.
