Never too cool for tools
Granted men here aren't exactly known for being handy, but it really is our duty. Fixing stuff around the house is what separates the men from the boys and thus there really isn't room for compromise here. Changing the light bulbs is just the beginning really; there's much more to it than that. Therefore, it's impertinent for men to have a tool box. And every tool box must have these essential tools:
The Hammer: The claw hammer is the most important tool to have, both for breaking stuff and for driving in those pesky nails. A woman believes that hanging pictures should change places every month along with the furniture. For that to happen, you need to put nails through walls and for that you need claw hammers, which can hammer in those nails and claw out the old ones as well. When purchasing a hammer, pick one that suits you best in terms of weight and length.
Screwed: The next tool that's a must have is the screwdriver. The flat head screw driver is the best one to get, which can be used for taking things apart and also from checking whether your power sockets are actually working or not. Flat head screwdrivers have been around for as long as mankind so they shouldn't be hard to find. They come in many different shapes and sizes, so don't just opt for the biggest, baddest looking one.
Looking for Phillips: Sure a flat head screwdriver is a must, but it must be complemented by a set of Philips screwdrivers as well. The Philips screwdriver has four star points and are pretty much necessary for taking apart anything from gaming consoles to TV remotes. Since those two things will have to be taken apart at one point or another, it's crucial to have a set of Phillips screwdrivers nearby.
Size Matters: A toolbox without a tape measure is like an architect student without a slide ruler. A tape measure is used to measure everything that you are planning or pretending to make. From the new cabinet for your TV or a book shelf, a tape measure helps to plan the dimensions for your newest construction project. Without it you risk making a 40” inch cabinet for a 42” TV.
Gut Wrenching: You need wrenches, both the crescent wrench and the socket wrench. This will help loosen those tight nuts and bolts or tightening those loose nuts and bolts you find on your furniture and even in your car. Yes, things from the tool box can help keep your car running.
Power Drill: Cordless or otherwise, power drills are a must for any toolbox. Power drills can help drill holes where your hammer and strength fail collectively. They also seem pretty cool and everybody knows that men must have whatever looks cool and power packed.
Before we forget, make sure to have a utility knife. Tapes, screws and such are a given. If you haven't got your toolbox ready, then get out and do so. It's a man thing.
