Nat'l junior chess Parag loses a chance

Mehdi Hasan Porag of Titas yesterday squandered his chances to become champions straight away when he lost his last round match to Mohammad Ali of Bangshal.

On completion of the ninth round of the 24th National Junior Chess Championship, Parag and Ali have 8 points each. They will play a play-off match on Wednesday for the title.

Tie-breaking system came in to play when six players finished with equal 7 points. Mohammad Javed of Kamlapur secured third place, Obaidul Islam Shahin of Deaf Sports 4th, Bilash Biswas 5th, sub-junior

champion Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar of Anirban 6th, Rabiul Islam of Khulna 7th, and Md Imran Ali Elin of Pirojpur 8th.
