'Missing' BCL leader rescued
BCL Islamic University (IU) unit leader Saiful Islam, who went missing from Dhaka on January 22 this year, was rescued from Goalondo ferry terminal area in Rajbari district yesterday.
Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Goalondo Police Station, said Saiful, president of BCL Bangabandhu Hall unit, was found lying in a semi-conscious state in the terminal area at around 12:30pm.
As he introduced himself to locals, they informed the police, who went to the spot and rescued him.
On information, a police team from Kushtia rushed to Rajbari and brought Saiful to the district headquarters. He is now undergoing treatment at Kushtia General Hospital.
Saiful went to Dhaka on January 21 to meet the BCL central leaders. He went missing on way to Kazipara in Mirpur from Farmgate area at around 9:15pm on January 22.
Saad Ahmed, elder brother of Saiful, and Shishir Islam Babu, BCL organising secretary of Bangabandhu Hall unit, filed two separate general diaries with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in Dhaka and Islamic University Police Station in Kushtia on January 23.
