Milk Vita penalises officials, launches new 200ml pack
The authorities of the state-run cooperative dairy, Milk Vita, yesterday penalised the company's two officers with Tk 3 lakh, payable within two weeks, on charges of causing financial losses to the company.
The officials are: Md Aktaruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Milk Vita's Srinagar factory in Munshiganj, and Suchisnan Biswas, officer-in-charge of Tekerhat factory in Madaripur, the company said in a statement.
An inspection team unearthed anomalies in milk collection in the factories, said Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, managing director of Milk Vita.
Any corruption or anomalies in future will be handled with tougher actions, he said.
Postings of 40 officers and employees were also reshuffled in a bid to prevent the longstanding anomalies in the company's production and marketing on Sunday.
The dairy yesterday also introduced 200-ml pack of pasteurised milk in the market for the first time at Tk 15 per unit.
This small package of milk has been on high demand among the low income group for quite a long time, but Milk Vita never marketed it for some 'mysterious' reasons, said Chowdhury.
An unscrupulous quarter in the Milk Vita deliberately delayed the launch of the small pack to make way for unfair business by private companies, officials of the company told The Daily Star.
