Mezbah leaves for Moscow
Bangladesh's fastest athlete Mezbah Ahmed left for Moscow yesterday to participate in the World Athletics Championship, reportedly without much preparation as was the case when he took part in the Asian Truck and Field in Pune, India last month.
Mezbah, the country's lone participant in Moscow, is scheduled to take part in the 100m sprint heat on August 10.
Mezbah produced a poor performance in the 100m sprint in Pune by clocking 10.99 seconds, 0.24 seconds more than his best timing he produced which was set in the Bangladesh Games in April.
However, About Mezbah's poor performance, Bangladesh Athletics Federation's joint secretary said that the sprinter had more or less good practice in BKSP with the Asian Youth Games' camp.
Mezbah is accompanied by BAF general secretary Ibrahim Chengis and vice president Manjur Murshed, who are attending the meet as delegates of World Athletic Federation.
