Man shot dead in Chittagong

Miscreants shot a man to death in Eidgaon Kacha Rastar Matha area of the port city yesterday night over past enmity.
The dead, Nasir Talukder, 45, son of Abdur Rahman of Jhalokathi, was a resident of Santibagh in Halishahar.
Nipa Akter, widow of the deceased, said a man identifying himself as Rubel called Nasir over the phone and asked him to go there around 10:00pm.
After Nasir reached the area the miscreants shot him in his abdomen.
Critically injured, Nasir was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Quazi Motiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Double Mooring Police Station, said Nasir himself was a criminal and was accused in several cases filed with Double Mooring and Bander police stations.
Jahedul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bander Police Station, said Nasir and Rubel were members of a covered van robbery gang.
A murder case has been filed with Double Mooring Police Station in connection with the murder.
