Man now kills brother's wife, 2 kids for property
Having been out of jail for only a month after serving a 20-year term for murdering his elder brother, a man beat to death his younger brother's wife and her two kids in Hossainpur upazila of Kishoreganj Thursday evening to grab ancestral property.
Police arrested the murderer, Borhan, 45, at Nandail bus station in Nandail upazila of Mymensingh when he was fleeing, said Mir Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Hossainpur Police Station.
The deceased are Najma Akter, 32, wife of Faruq Mia of Sidla village, and their two sons Shajahan, 8, and Limon, 4.
Borhan was released from jail a month ago, Mosharraf told The Daily Star.
When he learned that his father late Sadar Ali, a farmer, gave all his property to his younger brother, Borhan demanded a share but Faruq turned him down. So, Borhan planned to kill them all, the OC said, quoting Borhan.
On Thursday evening, Borhan got Najma alone at her house and beat her dead. About 15-20 minutes later, when her elder son Shajahan came home, Borhan killed him and then thrashed Limon, who died on the way to hospital.
Borhan ran away when villagers came to Limon's rescue hearing his screams.
His entire family was dead before Faruq reached home.
Police said Borhan primarily confessed to the killing and lamented that he could not kill his brother.
The bodies were sent to Kishoreganj Modern Hospital morgue for autopsy. A case was lodged with Hossainpur Police Station.
About 20 years ago, Borhan stabbed his elder brother Sohrab dead when Sohrab beat him discovering an illicit relation between his wife and Borhan.
Borhan has three sisters who were married years ago.
