LIVING WITH THE STARS
In the history of Bangladesh film industry, we have had some great actors. The number of actors; however, always been have fewer. During the '70s and '80s, there was an excellent bunch of actors who led the film industry together. But from the beginning of the '90s, the numbers started to fall. Then, came the reign of Salman Shah. He rose to the apex of popularity. With him emerged many actresses- Mousumi, Shabnur, Popi and many more. But his early demise, left a vacuum in our film industry. FDC suffered a massive blow for not having another popular actor like him. Meanwhile, the actresses continued to develop their popularity. Among them, Mousumi is still in brilliant form. After that, Apu Biswas, Nipun, and a bunch of new stars were born who are still the most prominent actresses in our mainstream films. Nipun might be a newcomer compared to Apu Biswas, but in her six years of acting career, she has gone quite far. She has secured a firm place for herself. She has already acted in a mainstream film in Kolkata with Prosenjit. If the audience likes her work, she might do more work there. We hope her success won't be limited to Kolkata. Maybe her reach will go as far as Mumbai someday. We can certainly hope for that. One positive side of Nipun is that she can present herself in completely different looks. She has a typical Bengali sweetness to her face that our audience likes and has liked for generations. We are hoping that the next time we will feature Nipun, she will have gone a lot further ahead in her career.
