Limon cleared in arms case
A court in Jhalakathi on Monday cleared college student Limon Hossain, maimed by a Rab shooting, in an arms case.
Meanwhile, another court fixed August 18 for hearing of the case filed on charges of obstructing law enforcers from performing their duty.
The on July 8 decided to withdraw the two cases Rab had filed against him.
Following the court order, Limon said, “I am very happy today. I have been proved innocent at last. I am giving thanks to the prime minister and home minister for considering my issue."
"I am really owed to the all media men and human right organizations as they always stood beside me,” he added.
Henoara Begum, mother of Limon, said: “I am gratitude to the government as well as the media and human right organizations.”
Abdul Mannan Rasul, the public prosecutor of Jhalakathi court, said as per the direction of the government the court has taken the decision to clear Limon in both the cases and Special Tribunal Court-2 has already exempted Limon from the arms case.
Additional District Judge Kiran Sankar Halder passed the order in the arms case while Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court fixed August 18 for next hearing in the other case due to absence of the chief judicial magistrate in the court.
The home ministry sent a letter to the deputy commissioner (DC) of Jhalakathi for clearing Limon from the cases filed against him. The DC sent a letter to the PP requesting him to take the necessary steps in the court.
Informing the home ministry decision on Limon, Additional PP M Alam Khan put up the prayer to the Special tribunal court-2 on July 21 for arms case. Accepting the prayer, the court had fixed July 29 (today) for hearing on the case.
On the other hand, Assistant PP Mahamud Hossen Khokon put up a prayer to the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court in the case of obstruction law enforcers from performing their duty on July 22. Accepting the prayer, the court had also fixed July 29 (today) for hearing on the case.
