Lightning kills five, injures seven

Five people were killed and seven others injured by lightning in four districts-- Narayanganj, Gazipur, Netrakona and Brahmanbari -- yesterday, according to our correspondents.
In Naraynganj, Two garment workers were killed by lightning at Khanpur in Narayanganj city yesterday afternoon.
The dead were identified as Nayon, 21, son of Anwar Hossain of Kumudini area in the city, and Rony, 20, son of Ramzan Miah of the same area. They were struck by lightning while playing football at Khanpur area in the afternoon.
In Netrakona, a child died and seven others sustained injuries as they were struck by lightning at Madan upazila of the district in the morning.
The dead is Amit, 10, son of Bakul Mia of Shibashram village. Of the injured, four were  admitted to to Mymensingh Medical Collage Hospital.
In Gazipur, a farmer was killed by lightning at Kaliganj upazila yesterday afternoon.
The victim, Lokman Hossain, 28, of South Vadarthi village, was struck by lightning while returning home from a nearby shop.
In Brahmanbaria, lightning killed a man at Bancharampur upazila in the district.
The victim was identified as Meher Ali, 55.
