600 women raped in six months!

A recent report revealed that nearly 600 women were raped in Bangladesh between January 1 and June 30. Bangladesh Mahila Parishad prepared the report compiling news reports published in 14 dailies across the country. In addition, around 2,063 women and children were subject to various forms of violence including stalking, sexual harassment, physical torture for dowry, etc.

Nowadays, women do not feel safe anywhere in the country. Every day we see news of violence against women. The victims usually do not file cases against the offenders for fear of social stigma, lack of safety and threats from the culprits. Therefore, in most of the cases, the perpetrators get away scot-free. We all should raise our voice against sexual harassment and rape. This culture of impunity must end.
