Khaleda urges party men to help improve law & order

Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has urged the party leaders and workers to build up broad-based unity between BNP and common people.

BNP does not believe in the politics of vengeance, she said and asked the party men to go to the people, conquer their hearts and work together to implement the development activities and improve law and order situation in the respective areas.

"Involve the people in the production- and development-oriented politics of Shaheed Zia to fulfil their aspirations," she told the leaders and workers of the Bogra district BNP and its front organisations during a meeting at the local circuit house on Tuesday night.

"Think yourself as the part of the government and contribute to the balanced development of the country," she said.

The present government "inherited a shattered economy from the previous Awami League government" and international economic recession following the September 11 attack in the United States, the prime minister said.

But due to various pragmatic steps of the government, she added, the foreign exchange reserve has increased significantly and discipline restored in various financial sectors of the country.

"The country has advanced to a large extent within a short span of time and different measures were taken to eradicate poverty," the prime minister said and called for more initiatives for the success of the government and the party.

State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Ziaul Haq Zia, Prime Minister's Political Secretary Mosaddek Ali, BNP leader Shamsunnahar Khwaja Ahsanullah, Whip Rezaul Bari Dina and local MPs were present at the meeting.
