Khaleda blasts incidents of assault of woman
BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has strongly condemned the incidents of assaulting and stripping of a number of women, including the housewife of a diplomat at Gulshan, Jatiya Sangsad Chattar and TSC areas in the city on the night December 31, reports UNB.
In a statement yesterday she said: I was highly shocked and aggrieved to read the detailed reports in the daily newspapers about the rowdiness of a section of youths.
Khaleda said the rowdy and misguided youths in the name of welcoming New Year have stained and ashamed the whole nation by assaulting the women.
"Crimes and rowdiness were increased in the society as the criminals go unpunished," she said adding that the youths are going astray day by day.
"The country would be seized by anarchy and the social system will break down if the government does not take punitive actions against the responsible persons," she added.
The Opposition leader extended sympathy to the victims and demanded punishment of the criminals.
