Jubo League men stab LGED engr in Jhenidah

An engineer of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) was stabbed allegedly by Jubo League men in the district town yesterday afternoon.
The victim is Rakibul Islam, executive engineer at LGED office in the town. He was admitted to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital.
Locals said a group of Jubo League men led by town unit president Naser Alam Siddique Ujjal went to the office of the engineer at around 5:00pm and urged him to pass a bill against a construction work.
As the engineer said that the bill would be given according to the rules and regulations of the office, the Jubo League men became furious and attacked the engineer with sharp weapons, leaving him seriously injured.
No case was filed with Sadar Police Station as of filing of this report at 6:00pm yesterday.
Despite repeated attempts, this correspondent could not reach Jubo League leader Ujjal as his cellphone remained switched off.
Contacted, Superintendent of Police Altaf Hossain said some unidentified men stabbed the LGED engineer at his office.
Kazi Jalal Uddin, officer in-charge of Sadar Police Station, told this correspondent that he was aware of the incident. “We will investigate the matter and then take actions against the persons involved,” the OC said.
District Awami League General Secretary Azizur Rahman said if Jubo League men are found involved in stabbing the LGED Engineer Rakibul Islam, necessary actions will be taken against them.
He condemned the incident and urged law enforcers to bring the real culpris to book.
